"My Killer Buddy" and "The Empire" to open the Romagna region Film Festival
The Bellaria Film Festival will be held from May 8th to the 12th, in Bellaria Igea Marina (Rimini). Bruno Dumont's "The Empire" will open the Romagna festival in its Italian premiere. The film is fresh from the Silver Bear at the Berlinale and is a France-Italy-Germany-Belgium-Portugal co-production, with Ines Vasiljevic producing for Italy, together with Ascent Film.
The director, Bruno Dumont, will be present at the Festival both for the preview of the film and for a Masterclass on his cinema. The film will then be released in theaters on June 6th thanks to Academy Two.
Below, a brief synopsis of “The Empire”:
“Behind the appearance of the banal daily life of a fishing village on the Opal Coast, emerges the epic parallel life of the knights of the interplanetary kingdoms. Rival clans are engaged in a fierce and bloody battle following the announcement of the birth of Margat, the resurrected, purple and filthy Prince, the Beast of the End Times, who is here on the Coast, son of an already separated young couple, as usually happens in a working-class neighbourhood...".
Also at the opening of the Festival, on May 8, "My Killer Buddy", the first work by Gianluca Santoni, produced by NIGHTSWIM, with Rai Cinema, in co-production with Antitalent and in associated production with Sajama Films, will also be presented.
The film will be screened for the BFF School programme, dedicated to schools and new generations, before the special screening in the afternoon, where the Casa Rossa Award for Best Performance will also be awarded to Barbara Ronchi.
The Bellaria Film Festival has existed since 1983 and is dedicated to new and courageous languages of Italian cinema and beyond.
