ASYMMETRY

SYNOPSIS

A girl and a boy spend the last days of a carefree summer break together, as the day draws ever closer in which the girl will have to leave the country for good. A young woman and a young man meet, listening to each other through the walls of an old building. They rapidly hit it off and rush headlong into a passionate love story. As with him, she explores the city that she had left as a child, the girl inexplicably has the sensation that she had met him before. A woman and a man separate after 20 years of marriage. Each of them tries to find a place all their own, but there's something that prevents them from pushing onward. The summer is hot, the streets of Belgrade fill up with the empty stories of these couples that almost randomly intersect. As the narration unwinds, there emerges a broader portrait of only one sole couple - a couple shown in the three key phases of their life.

DIRECTOR'S NOTE

I wanted to create connections using only details, intuitions, emotional atmospheres, and reflections, repeating several of the motifs present in all three of the stories, in different ways, both from a visual standpoint as well as one of actual content. Consequently, what will be seen, is a small film hailing from Serbia, that doesn't deal with problems of war or politics or social issues, but first and foremost with emotions, even if all my characters are firmly rooted in the reality of present-day Belgrade.
