SYNOPSIS

During a school trip, a group of teenagers becomes stranded in a mountain lodge, while the suicide of Andrija, a victim of bullying, brings buried guilt and responsibility back to the surface. Haunted by the ghost of his dead friend and targeted by his classmates, Zoza becomes the group’s new victim, ultimately driven to an extreme act of revenge.

DIRECTOR'S NOTES

3 Weeks After is inspired by several real-life incidents, but does not recreate any single case. It is a film about violence among children, and about the cruelty that can erupt suddenly, almost naturally, in a context where we still expect to find innocence.

What disturbed me most was not only the brutality itself, but also the normality surrounding it: the idea that such violence can coexist with everyday life, almost unnoticed, until it becomes impossible to ignore.

I wanted to portray this violence not as an isolated incident, but as a reflection of the times we live in—a world where cruelty is often recorded, shared, repeated and turned into spectacle. The boundary between victim, witness and perpetrator becomes increasingly blurred. Those who commit violence bear its marks in turn: their actions come back to haunt them in other forms, often even more destructive.

As a parent, I cannot look at this subject from a distance. The thought that one of these figures—a victim, a witness or a perpetrator—could be our own child is unbearable.

I do not believe a film can change the world, but I do believe cinema can force us to look at what we would rather avoid. This film is my attempt to confront that darkness—not to find a justification, but to ask ourselves what kind of world we are leaving to our children.
